Nokia's WP7 smartphones are out! Pics+specs!

Today, Nokia announced two highly anticapted WP7 smartphones at Nokia World!
Their names? Lumia 710 and Lumia 800!
Read on to find out why we think they could be a game changer...
Remember the very beautiful "Sea Ray" leak weeks ago?! Well, actually it is the Lumia 800!

Here are the specs:

  • 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 3.7'' AMOLED ClearBlack curved display (800 x 480)
  • 8-megapixel rear camera (720p HD video; f/2.2 Carl Zeiss lens)
  • 16GB onboard storage
  • WP7.5 alias Mango
  • HSPA+
  • TV output
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Dimensions: 116.5mm x 61.2mm x 12.1mm
  • Weight: 142g
  • Battery: 1,450mAh

You might think the SoC is too weak, but remember this is a WP7 smartphone and we know how smooth these handsets work with only 1GHz...
Let's talk about the design. First of all, it looks awesome! A very unique design (in three different colors: blue, black, red), we have never seen before. Great materials and a clever curved display. What can we expect more?

The black version of the Lumia 800

The second device, the Lumia 710, is the cheaper version of the 800. It still features the 1.4 GHz from Qualcomm, but the keys are restitive and the display is no AMOLED.

The specs:

  • 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 3.7'' WVGA 480×800 display
  • 8GB of internal storage, with microSD card slot that supports up to 24GB in total
  • 5MP rear-facing camera
  • WP7.5 alias Mango
  • 3G HSPA+ connectivity
  • GPS
  • Dimensions: 119 x 62.4 x 12.5mm
  • Weight: 126g
  • 1300mAh battery that sports 7.6 hours 3G talk time, 400 hours maximum 3G standby time

The Lumia 710 in different colors

So what is the difference between the 800 and 710?  Well, first of all, it does not look as great as the 800 and will not use a unibody case. Instead, it has a back made of plastic which will be exchangeable with other colors (blue, red, white, black, yellow). As we mentioned: it will not use an AMOLED screen and it will feature restitive keys. The 710 will be the "more affordable" handest from the Redmond's.

Wrap-up

Nokia did a great job and is back in business! With these two great devices (especially the Lumia 800), we are sure that not only Nokia, but also the Windows Phone brand will profit and regain market shares.

Both handsets will be available in Europe in Novemeber. The estimated prices are 270€ ($375) for the Lumia 710 and 420€ ($585) for the Lumia 800. It is not known when they will arrive in the U.S. Stay tuned for further informations...
